For those of you who haven't heard the story, a man paid me one night for a CD in the electronics dept. at Wal-mart with exact change. In that change was this: Image: 1909VDBobv1.jpg68.1 KB Image: 1909VDBobv2.jpg61.53 KB Image: 1909VBDrev1.jpg65.31 KB Image: 1909VDBrev2.jpg91.7 KB I've been told a few grades, but I'd like to know what you all think.

I'd say AU-55 but don't take that too seriously, because I'm absolute rubbish at grading these.

No deduction for the black spot on the T on the obs?
Without out that...I would think AU 55-58. It is a super sweet coin either way!

That is some nice pocket change! Quote: Nice find, To me it looks at least MS-60. *If* it is an MS coin, I think it would be MS63 or higher. But there is probably some rub on that coin.

Great find. Lucky for you, that guy didn't know what it was or just did no care.

I have heard stories about people that put things like that in their change to generate interest in collecting. Great find!

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I'd been waiting to see about the grade on this coin for a while, but I didn't have a camera until yesterday.
My local coin dealer said he thought it was ef, and a guy at a coin show I went to said MS60-63. So I'm glad to see that you all agree with me that it is better than EF.
Thanks!

I can reassure you that it would be impossible to have a true EF coin with that much original red left. That one has very high end Red-Brown color and could only grade high AU at the lowest based on color alone. Nice one cent investment

Much better than EF, I'd say AU-53 RB....a great coin to get back in change!
