jmgi2020 New Member United States 44 Posts	Posted 11/08/2021 5:17 pm American collector here, but always have liked the Canadian tokens, even though I only have one, which I found with my metal detector many years ago, an 1844 Bank of Montreal token. Can someone who collects them recommend the name of a good book that specializes in the Canadian tokens? Report this Post to the Staff

The first edition is 1988, but I have the 5th edition and don't know when it came out. Some of the information, based on Coinsite discussions, is not entirely accurate. I don't know if Charlton updated the information with each edition, but I kinda doubt it. You can also get the Haxby Canadian Coins and Tokens (a Whitman guidebook) and you'll get canadian coinage in addition to the tokens. I like the Haxby book. Report this Post to the Staff

Chapados-Girard. The Charlton catalogue is a continuation of the work by Breton, Courteau, Leroux, Lees, McLachlan, and others. The 10th edition is 250 pages. A lot of the information has been revised / corrected. There are also specialty books / catalogues available for specific series / provinces. You may also be interested in the CATC, Canadian Association of Token Collectors. All tokens - colonial, merchant, and modern are collected / discussed and catalogued by members.
