You know, the only real errors I have ever heard of have to do with wrong planchets being used, brockage, clipped and chipped planchets, and other manufacturing problems -- stuff that is totally obvious. I can't think of any errors of the large magnitude you describe.

There are thousands of Canadian error coins out there. When you know what to look for, they are relatively easy to find. Here is a list of some 1962 1c error coins: 1. Double 1, Lump on 6 ( DDD) 2. Double 2 (Repunched) 3. Double 2 ( DDD) 4. Double 1&2 ( DDD) 5. Double 62 ( DDD) 6. Double 962 ( DDD) 7. Double 1962 (WDD) 8. Hanging 2-Weak (DC) 9. Hanging 2 (Strong) 10. Hanging 2, Hanging ML 11. Hanging 2, Dot (Below 62) 12. Hanging 2-Double 13. Hanging 2-Quadruple 14. Dot 15. Missing M (in MG) 16. Harp Strings (Under 1¢) 17. Guitar Strings (Under 1¢) Or how about the 1979 1c coin: 1. Rotated Die 2. Dbl. 9 ( DDD) 3. Dbl. 79 ( DDD) 4. Dbl. 9&9 ( DDD) 5. Dbl. 979 ( DDD) 6. Dbl. 979, Tear in Eye 7. Dbl. 979, Tongue in Mouth 8. Dbl. 1979 (Double Date) 9. Dbl. Portrait #1 ( DDD) 10. Dbl. Port. #2 (DDD+MDDe) 11. Dbl. Portrait&Legend 12. Dbl. Legend (MDDe) 13. Dbl. Obverse (WDD) 14. Open Mouth 15. Open Mouth, Dbl. Portrait 15. mkb, that's a great list just for 1962! Would you know of any online references that contain info for other years?

Wow...these don't really get a lot of publicity at all.
Where are you getting your list from?

"Would you know of any online references that contain info for other years?" "Where are you getting your list from?" There is no online list to my knowledge. These lists were put together by myself as a result of monitoring tens of thousands of trades at major auctions, trades on ebay (along with buying on ebay), viewing images posted by collectors on sites such as this or on personal sites, and from my own finds through the course of collecting. What I have done though is put together a price guide that lists all the more tradeable errors/varieties I have come across so far. A few of them turn out to be exceptional pieces, such as these 1c coins: 1. 2006 No P Magnetic 2. 1985 Rotated Die (45 degrees CCW) 3. 1969 Long Denticles 4. 1968 Rotated Die (90 degrees) 5. 1967 Rotated Die (120 degrees) A basic edition of this guide is listed on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-2009-Price-...on_W0QQitemZ190279259128QQihZ009QQcategoryZ3383QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem There are no images in the guide I produce, just listings. For images, my best source is the coins I own. This is followed by over a dozen different illustrated guides that I use, from Zoell, to Charlton to Charest including internet sites/sources, along with auction catalogs (i.e., Heritage, Akers, Bowers, etc.). But all of these illustrated sources combined probably only contain only about half of the coins listed in the guides I produce. So, its more than a big job to produce a fully illustrated guide, and the size of such a guide would be quite large.

mkb, do you havr youir errors listed by each date? I ask, because I have a lot of small cents, and more keep coming in every day. It would be vert helpful if your errors could be available, (for a price). The illustration is not absolutely necessary, to locate any particular error, and no doubl you could confirm that the error in question is, in fact the error sought after. Opinion? Your list BTW, will be "lifted" for reference. I am new, so to speak at the Canadian cents, and general collection, but my Canadian collection is getting bigger than my US coins! Thanks for your info, opinion, and any suggestions. If you note a "lot" of typos, it is not that I can't spell. I am legally blind, and use microscopes to view my coins. my US cents collection, is primarily, "varieties", and some errors. Dick

Dick, I would agree that "The illustration is not absolutely necessary, to locate any particular error". For the majority of errors, just knowing the general area where to look is sufficient. There are a few though that you need illustrations. But the majority of errors are quite distinct. All the errors and associated varieties are listed by date as in any price guide. Below is an image from page 76 of the Basic Edition price guide:
