Hope you enjoy the pics. I can't do the coin justice. If you'd like to see a video there was on my Instagram @shieldcentmatt

Am I correct that such a toning for the 2020 coin is may be only artificial. What is a reason to tone them like this?

Nice! In my opinion, not necessarily artificial. I've seen similar shield cents--not many, but some. It boils down to the copper reacting with an evironmental agent--could be accomplished intentionally by a creative collector, or the coin may have been exposed in a more 'natural' (no human intervention) way. Some shield cents may have a crazy patchwork of toning--not the semi-'bullseye' pattern yours has. I wonder about those being artificial.
Is there any elaboration indicated on the ANACS label?

Looks like a nice coin. Honestly, I'm surprised to see one that toned in such a short period.

It's not artificial at all. Found in a roll of 2020 D. Yea I've found other toned shields as well in obw rolls, 2020 and 2021 also a 2019. They aren't nearly as toned, the color progression is consistent with them as compared to this one. The anacs slab says 2020 D MS67 RB (red brown). Shields I've found in rolls as rolls endeared aren't as bullseye appearance but the toning is crazy when at a certain angle you can see it..
I've noticed to the shield cent toners I've found in rolls the roll ender the coin is more pushed inside the roll and the roll wasn't rolled fully to the actually coin so it allowed for more air prob and oxygen and whatever else to react with the copper

That doesn't make sense bc it wasn't toned by a human it was in a roll of 2020 D shields. So there was no reason to tone them like this bc it's naturally

I'd almost want to snap a pic of the coin and the roll, just to document that it came into your possession that way... of course, photos don't ALWAYS mean accuracy & truth...

True I could ask the seller. Looking at it and experience of seeing different Toned coins this is a true natural tone no doubt about it.

I'm with the crowd that it didn't tone naturally within such a short period of time. It's awesome toning, but artificial imho.

I'd have to disagree it's not artificial. I've pulled 4 other toned shield cents some not as extreme in color but are toned and they are from obw rolls mostly roll enders. Color progression is spot on. The whole coin looks right as well passed through toning for it to be natural.
