This coin is in a sealed mint package along with the S and P mints. It has some Die Deterioration going on and the planchet has flaws but I see distinct lines on the fields of some of the text along with the classic DD. Any thoughts from someone who knows more about it. I am a Canadian with an interest in both currencies. Cheers!

Extreme die wear. The fields are covered in die flow lines and the devices are showing the flow onto the devices. Just a VLDS (Ver-Late-Die-State) die that struck your coins. Coins in mint sets are nothing special. They are just randomly take out of the bins as needed. All are BU coins, but there is no standard for quality of strikes. I bought these for a couple of years, but realized the ones in the OBW rolls were better coins than these. So I stopped buying them.

Ok. Thanks for confirming that. The D's in the 1979 and 80 sets seem like they were the final worn dies compared to the P and S mints.

I was leaning toward "Die Ware" Coop confirmed it. The devices were "smooshed" instead of hammered with a defined line for the devices.
