This doesn't seem real to me . I really wouldn't be able to say I was sure it's real. Thank you all for the feedback

Looks real to me. The zinc layer has started to wear off exposing the steel core.
The weight should confirm if it is genuine.

It appears to be an authentic steel cent with atmospheric discoloration (rust).

I just have a little scale from the convenience store but it shows 2.83
And I guess I have seen comments about counterfeits maybe and because it felt lighter and have a few more it seems they are peeling
I only started small scale coin collect I'm
On borrowed time due to illnesses so I'm not going to be able to take them with me

I'm virtually certain it is real . Does it stick to a magnet ? The reddish brown substance on obverse is rust coming from the steel planchet .

Looks very legit to me. I have several tubes of steel cents which are nearly identical to the one posted.

Only if they are not re-plated and are in great condition. The ultra shiny ones have been re-plated.
