Hi All. I think this one is from the Coinfrog collection...(which he sent to some of us lucky members for free)

Not sure what happened here...I have seen plating bubbles on more recent coins but never on a LWC and it goes around the rim on both obverse and reverse. I see alot of Die Deterioration but not sure about anything else here.

I had to use some light to get the bubbles to show, hope the pics are ok.

Appreciate your help explaining what happened.

Maybe Looks like a die flaw of sorts. Sure is an interesting one. It is for sure not plating issues as this is not plated. This is 95 percent copper.

Thank you Oldfordman I wondered aboutthe possibility of plating bubbles on a copper coin. Seemed impossible!

Looks like a rusted die issue.

I've seen this before on a roll of 1937 cents. But never bothered to figure it out as it doesn't increase the value. If could be an issue with grease and sand on the die. Not a plus for the coin.

I'd keep it if I found it. Collectors are paying a small amount for really worn DDD and also MD, so I have to believe there is a collector for that coin somewhere.
