Saw this one come up at auction along with two more of these in slightly lower grades. Not sure what the seller was thinking, putting up multiples of the same rare die at the same time since it allows bidders to each get a coin with none going into a major bidding war like can happen when there is only one available. When the dust settled I won this for just $128, which unless the price has really dropped on these is rather a bargain. The coin tops this one off for my collection, coming in at POP 5/1 (there is a 66 star but none in 67 nor any at PCGS above this one). 1956 D & D (separated NW) Lincoln Wheat cent - RPM-016, FS-502 NGC MS66RD POP 5/1

That's a real beauty, no distractions on the coin at all. A really tough variety too and it sounds like you got it for a great price too. Congrats!

Great coin. MS 66 for a rare die is incredible. When do you open the musuem to visitors?

LOL! No museum, I honestly I'd love to host a winter variety/error expo. Buy, sell, trade, just for show, whatever. Downside is I have no clue if even a handful of folks would show up so really hard to think how to approach it.

(The current president is Jason Cuvelier which just might ring a bell with folks.) I know the CONECA forum has participation that's a little weak but they usually have a table at a lot of coin shows (FUN comes to mind.) The members that man the tables are strong in the community and active members tend to take on a lot of responsibilities. I would suggest any variety collectors stop by the table and show them some love. This bolsters spirits, strengthens ties, and may lead to connections that will grow over time to help produce the kind of activity TB mentions and a lot of us would enjoy. Also, as more members join CONECA, more active participants will mean a more vibrant experience for everyone. Everyone reading this, please consider joining join CONECA if you aren't already a member, and tell them The Coin Community Forum sent you. (They like to know how new members hear about them.) This whole idea isn't just a total backburner thing, I would honestly like to host something. Just need to put some time into making a few contacts to see what might come out of the concept. With Penn State right here, it occurs to me that it may be possible to contact their hotel and restaurant management college and see if there was a professor who would be interested in assigning a real-world event planning as an assignment. Could work, maybe, I don't know.

Really can't be a website very easily. How do you buy/sell/trade? If people had time to photograph all those coins they could just sell them on ebay or whatever. Anyone here interested in rooting through my thousands of doubles for things you need? Can't do that on a website. Here is what I found last night, not including the two struck on thin planchet coins. And this is just one night of roll searching. Folks are just going to have to get together and bring their goodies if it's going to work.

HOLY MOLLY!!!! That's one night. Do you scope them all, or are your eyes still good enough to see them. PAN coin show is in May 2022. Maybe a table could be rented or concea might already have a spot and they would be willing to let you exhibit for a day? http://www.coinzip.com/PAN-coin-sho...nroeville-PA

Yeah, that's just last night. I've been putting them all in 2x2's for the last hour and still have a bunch to go. Sidetracked doing a requested photo of a counterfeit coin edge, but I can't just let all these things fester on my desk.
So I find them all with a loupe, and then move one of each different thing to the scope to get the attribution and die stage if reasonable. I just can't move fast enough with a scope to cover the number of coins I have to get through, so if you can't find it with a loupe I'm gonna miss it. But I don't pull very many of the minor split serif RPMs anyway, as it takes too long to attribute them and not a key part of my collection.

The way you have this group displayed actually seems like a great idea.
Lots of info clearly visible on the labels. Maybe offer them in groups based on per coin price? 1,2,3,4 etc. of each group for 1,2,3,4 etc times the listed price per coin? (Saves on shipping and time for you.)
(Of course, each group of coins would need to have similar values.)

Well there are a number of ways to try and sell off the doubles, but all have drawbacks. Right now all I'm doing is just putting up a random lot every week on ebay at auction starting at 99 cents and it goes for what it goes for. Again, not optimal, as no matter what's in there some will be what the buyer wants and others less so. But it's moving 50 or so a week out the door, which is maybe just treading water as I probably add that many every week. Really would rather get exactly the coins folks are looking for to them, but can't be adding hours of time I don't have to getting them ready and photographing them and then picking through groups to get the invoices right and shipping them. I need to retire from my day (night) job.
