. If an 100% pure acetone soak would not damage it in any way, that's what I would do and see what happens. Weight would be very helpful. John1

I will get a weight and post it here. Just curious what will acetone do? I've heard never to clean coins and don't want to mess it up. It looks very clean already? Thanks for all the replies I've learned a lot already

Acetone is not considered cleaning and will remove any material that could be on the coin like glue etc.

Do not acetone that coin. You've got a $500 piece there. List it on ebay as a major shield cent unlisted Cud and get $250 for that thing. Awesome coin! The best change find I've ever seen on this forum! IMO

I don't have a scale at the house to weigh it. Gonna take it to work tomorrow and weigh it. I will definitely post here once I do. Thanks for all the information. I'm not gonna acetone it. I just don't wanna take a chance to mess something up I don't know much about

So this would be a pre Cud or retained interior die break? I agree, do nothing until you learn more.

I would consider this a no date Cud. Weakness on the reverse is expected.

Can't wait to know the weight. Looks to me like a retained die break. Amazing example if so.

Great find.
Any chance you can read the rest of the date since you have it in hand? (Your first image shows the 20 pretty well.)

Got it weighed. What would y'all do with this coin? Sell it? Keep? Is it worth grading? Sorry for bad picture had to crop and make black and white to be under 300kb to post.

what to do? if you dont collect an error like this, I would sell it on ebay with a starting price of $100 (i think this is low so there should be some type of bidding war). but you need to take good pictures. congratulations once again

Wow what a fasinating coin!
And you found it in change too! Not sure if I've ever seen such a thing found in such a manner before, absolutely spectacular! I agree with Tanman in relation to what it is.
