Hello everyone! It's been a while since I've been on here but I'm excited to be back! I was wondering what your opinions may be on my coin. It looks a little too good to be true so I'm wondering if it's authentic. It was found in a wall of an old home. Thank you. Nancy

This coin is not authentic.

This coin screams fake, looks more like an ASE than a WLH

Yes, something just seemed 'off'. What is ASE and WLH? At least beginners (like me) can use this post for a reference of what a fake coin looks like for this .50 piece.

Or did someone try to hoboize this coin from a genuine 1941, meaning did somebody retool this?

Pretty hilarious. We're not laughing at you, just the coin. Enter " Walking Liberty half" in the Search box above to see many pics of genuine examples.

On the right side of the obverse do you see where it's shiny more so than the other areas, that's because I rubbed it with my thumb. If I rubbed the obverse it would be shiny as well.
One thing I noticed when comparing it was the AW on the reverse is off..it has a 'W' but then to the top right of the 'W' is an angled 'A' which I hadn't seen when looking at examples of it.
Also, if you look at the M on the reverse of 'Unum' it has three dots on the 'v' part of the M.
I'll try to upload a better pic.

We don't need any more pics. The coin is 100% fake.

Looks like it may be very nice piece of old-fashion counterfeiting work. Not easily accomplished.
In fact it may be worth more than an actual 1941 WLH in similar condition.
