Hi all,

I was wondering what you think of the grade on this coin? It appears to be a repunched date I think, any info on variety is welcome

Thanks in advance!

Indeed a repunched date, and as to the grade, it looks MS-64 at least, and is tbe fancy 5 variety at that...

Uneven fields and unnatural color. I say AU-58 Details.

Wow, nice coin! No visible wear plus significant luster indicates a solid mint-state piece. Color is a bit blotchy and has faded enough I think to merit a red-brown designation. Strong strike and very few marks contribute to an overall grade of MS-65 RB, IMO.
Very obvious repunching of the 5. There is probably a specific variety code for this coin which a resident 2-cent authority will report.

Very nice fancy 5 RPD. Looks like FS-1302 (see below). I think there is a trace of wear, but very close to MS. I'd say AU-58.

I'll say AU details (reverse cleaned).

lighting is washing out surfaces so cannot determine originality. I'm going with cleaned without better photos. could be AU58 or MS63. photos with reduced lighting is needed

Yep a nice fancy 5 RPD, the more obvious re-punched date of the date and series. Looks like either an AU or low end MS to my eyes. MS61 or 62 if no wear or rub on high points, due to all the little nicks and ticks as well as the uneven and rough planchet. (In hand this may indeed be nicer than the photos show).

I too can see what others are saying on the cleaning, so many of these Two Cent Pieces have been messed with over the years it's getting harder all the time to find original surface examples. The look of this example in these photos show classic signs of blotchy retoning from an old cleaning.

Not an especially tough RPD but a really nice example of one. Can be tougher to find in the condition and higher.

The main differences between RPD 1 & RPD 2 on the fancy 5 date is #1 has a partial serif on the D of United (rev) while #2 has an incomplete serif on the D.

#1 also has a small dot next to the left side of the first T in Trust. There are a few other pick up points as well.

This one is RPD #2 as previously stated. Cross references:
