I'm new, please don't tell me I'm obviously new. I decided to look for errors bc I was wasting way too much time looking at dates etc. I do estate buyouts and have a considerable advantage over pocket change because I often find containers full of coins that have been in said containers for up to 20+ years. My origin story is about the 44 steel Wheat penny but that's not what I found and understand it's an unlikely quest! Anyway, this reveals my inadequacy in coin evaluation I'm sure.
I was looking through yet another container and found a 1940 quarter with a B stamped on it. Pretty sure it's PMD, but I have to ask you pros so that I can send it on its circulatory path. Please advise.

Well, just finding a box of silver coins is exciting of itself. But yes intentional damage or PMD.

@andi, while damaged, this quarter is still worth melt as noted by @jasp. Nice find and I look forward to future posts by you.

Cool counter-strike find. Some collectors love to gather these.

Definitely post mint damage. Absolutely nothing from the mint could have caused this. As mentioned this is called a counter stamp, done after it left the mint.

Welcome to CCF. If I'm going to find damage on coins, I prefer it to be counter stamps.
