Opened up a new roll of Jeffersons last night and almost just culled them all. It's not my cup of tea to look through brand new year BU coins. I'd much rather have rolls of older bank wrapped circulated coins to browse through in order to maybe get lucky and find a good doubled die or an RPM.. Luckily, this Nickel caught my attention. It's definitely an odd struck through "something". I do like struck throughs however even if on a brand new uncirculated coin. The area is definitely incuse which is sometimes hard to tell when looking at pictures I'll admit. Viewed from a horizontal plane with a loupe, there is not a bit of metal raised above the field around the edges and adjacent to the incuse area(s) which would definitely signal PMD. It's a very odd pattern in the recessed area which makes me wonder just what got in the way.... We shall never know. There are also striations that continue, as you can see, all the way up and through the dome. Just thought I'd share this neat coin with you all.

Yes, I see your struck through, AND also Feeder Finger Damage coming in from the NW to the SE affecting the fields of the reverse.

Nice coin.

What is running southeast to northwest, in the fields, would appear to be Feeder Finger Damage but not sure about all in between.

Thanks for the postings Bumpkin, VERY NICE !
This " Greaser" has a lot of "Action", since the mint just makes 1c, 5c, 10c, 25c, by the zillions, errors like this get into the huge dumping bins, and for us collectors, always makes for exciting roll hunting!

The building could be altered debris/grease that prevent the strike up on those devices.

Note these marks are incuse, not raised.

So if the marks on the building are incuse, it could be transfered die material or grease that was the issue.

Thank you all for the replies. Every indentation you see regarding the indented struck through areas, aside from a few contact marks from other coins, are incuse. I don't post many coins here on CCF but I thought this one was a pretty neat find especially considering I almost discarded and dumped this entire bank roll of new Nickels into my cull bucket.

I feel your pain Bumpkin. I remember sitting down back in 2019 to a box of cents I got from my bank only to find every roll was brand new ultra shiny cents. After about 30 rolls I was ready to pull my hair out, and back to the bank the whole lot went! I did swap out 10 rolls to sit aside for future use. But yeah, roll hunting brand new coins is certainly not fun! I am glad you found something for your efforts.
