Hello all. Thanks a lot for the information on my recently found coins (1983 Counter Clash and 1998 Strike Through).

I just found this 1968 S with what looks like a DDO on the date and Mint mark. Do you think I should send this one in to be graded? Also I'm looking to try and remove the gunky build up on the reverse. Any recommendations on if I should, how? Or if I should even try?

I apologize for the pic off my scope...im in need of a better camera than my phone has!!

I have looked on PCGS and cannot locate any graded examples, only the 1969 S DDO...which this one sadly is not.

Any help is much appreciated.

I'm no expert, but this looks like Machine Doubling. Not worth grading, I think.

Machine Doubling and environmental damage. Only worth 1 cent. Not worth grading. Details coin only.

Aye, Machine Doubling. I've seen this many times with '68 S mint cents.

Classic Machine Doubling, not a DDO, sorry. And never ever ever clean your coins. Many a coin as been ruined from those trying to clean gunk off coins. Your coin is not worth having graded, as the grading fees would cost you way more than the coin's final value would bring.

Your coin photography is fine! If you took it with a phone's camera, keep doing it. Most members here use built in cameras, in fact, some phone cameras are most excellent! I myself recently upgraded my phone to an iPhone 13, and I am blown away by it's quality. Just make sure your images are in focus and you'll find us very happy to assist you. The better the quality the easier it is to identify issues.
