I have one more special Barber to add to this post.
Today, after nearly ten years of metal detecting, I dug up my first Barber dime. I found it along the bank of a local river. It is an 1899. Although the rocky ground has left it a bit nicked up, with all the details it has, it must have been lost just a few years after it was minted.
I found a well-worn Barber quarter, also an 1899, eight years ago while detecting a local house tear down. That one is in my collection, too.
