I was wondering about the mint sets. Are they usually EDS coins. Does anyone know how that works. All the Lincolns I have seen from sets seem to have a slightly different color? My observations are from a very limited number that I have viewed hence the question. Thoughts?

In terms of color, I've gone through several hundred mint sets. Most Lincoln cents appear to be consistent color-wise with fresh BU cents coming from commercially-wrapped rolls. I have noticed that some P mint sets have Lincolns that appear to have a very subtle rose-like color. As we know, some uncirculated sets have strongly-toned cents--the bicentennial sets in particular. Bottom line, in my experience, there are some color variations, but not of a fixed, consistent year-to-year, mint-by-mint nature.

Do mint set Lincolns' have slightly fewer nicks and scratches? In your opinion do TPG's knowing they may be grading a mint cello tend to grade slightly harder if ever so slightly?
