Hello everyone, this morning I found a 2004 10cent Australian coin that appears to be a misprint. Here's a picture for reference. In short I am trying to understand if this coin holds any sort of value. I appreciate any help possible, thank you.

ps. forgot to mention the blank side appears to have a thin plastic film on it.

As per some people's request here is a side view.

Looks like a shed job,PMD,but you can never be 100% sure.

Someone on here that collects errors will be along with a more knowledgeable opinion than me.

to the CCF

The centre seems to have been removed for whatever reason.
Don' t know the meaning of the plastic insert buy it didn't leave
the mint like that so it would be classed as a damaged coin.

FYI-
Coins are struck or minted, not printed.

Hi pn18 and to the forum!

... it's PMD (Post Mint Damage)

For some reason, maybe for the purpose jewellery making, someone has machined one side of this coin.
The thin layer of plastic film on the reverse maybe a coating of some form of adhesive.

@pn18, first welcome to CCF. Second, could you please add a pic of the edge of the coin to this thread? It will be hard to do, but your pics so far are well above average for a first-time poster. Thx.

aboard! Aside from this most likely PMD, there is a suspicion that this could be a uniface trial strike. Krause catalog mentions these possibilities.

How did you find this coin? Did you receive it in your change, or come across it noodling, or was it somehow else?
