I was watching a YT vid the other day and I noticed a Garda truck pulling up in the background. Is it a good idea to hit the bank up after it leaves or does it matter. Also, is one service better the the other? Brinks and Garda in my area.

Matters little in my opinion. The truck might be making a pickup only--no delivery. Probably wouldn't be a good idea to loiter near the entrance as armored truck workers enter and exit the bank. Suggest having a conversation with the branch manager about coin delivery schedules. And, avoid looking suspicious.

It honestly doesn't matter. Usually they're in and out of the banks in short order and it is usually only one bank employee helping them.

Seeing how banks are pretty tight with the current change shortage I'm thinking that unless you have a standing coin order you'll be outa luck.

the "change shortage" is getting to be a ridiculous excuse at this point, like "15 days to flatten the curve"......
banks are just hoarding coins and don't want to give them out on the off chance they get cut off again by the supplier for some reason. coins to banks are the toilet paper shortage of 2020, a creation of hysteria. Plus they hate coin roll hunters also I'm sure....

I have different branches of the same bank in the same city saying different things. One says there's a "coin shortage", the one three miles to the south has "no room in the safe for more coin". Indeed, this "coin shortage" has been mostly manufactured, at least in the part of the country where I live. If this particular bank had any sort of brains, they would simply have an employee be a "rover" and transport coin from bank-to-bank on an "as needed" basis.

My bank would only give me $50 in quarters. No other change available.

I have two primary banks where I obtain 90% of my coins--two banks, multiple branches for each bank. I have particularly long-standing relationships at four branches--two per bank. I'm not an industrial-grade searcher who obtains several boxes a week. I'm happy with a modest pile of rolls per visit. At one branch which serves mostly retail customers, I can see part way into an area of the vault where coin boxes are stored on shelves. Pre-covid, the shelves were about 90% filled at any time, the last several months they've been about 20% filled. So, at least at this one branch, the shortage is kinda real. I can usually get 2-4 rolls at a time there, not the 15-20 I would have had in the past. And, I know the senior teller quite well.
At the other branches I frequent (know the tellers there too), I can get 6-8 rolls at a time these days with no hassle. Overall, I adapt and keep teller relationships strong. I don't pretend to have perfect coin distribution solutions for banks (and commercial coin services like Loomis, etc.), and I choose not to fuss about hidden motivations. Adapt and maintain positive relationships. And yes, I think my back/branch network likes dealing with me--they know I'm a collector.

Even if the truck did make a delivery the bank likely has a process to check in the inventory which takes time.

It will make no difference. Coins are a fraction of the time the truck comes.

The best way to get bank boxes of coins is simply go into the bank and order them. My bank prefers notice in advance and there is no charge,
