Seeing that the edge is perfect like a normal quarter might be miss annealed maybe ? Mr wexler said check the edge there would be no oxidation but I don't know what do you think?

It was all red except for the tops of the design where maybe it was polished off in somebody's pocket

This is before I knew I used a cotton wheel and a Dremel I'm not going to feel too smart if it's anything lol

This a normal Quarter with who knows what on it. I would highly recommend not using a Dremel tool on any coin regardless of its condition. Nor would I recommend wiping a coin with anything at all. If you do happen to come across an IA planchet, and do any of the above, you would have completely ruined any value it may have. There is also more to the equation than a clean reeded edge in determining a real IA.

Yeah I've had the coin for a couple of years now and found that out right after I did it not to do anything like that but now I know

When I soaked it in acetone it did nothing I know you're not supposed to do that but that's what I didn't when I dident know

A metal detecting fine the edge would not be clean metal

I think the shiny lamination layer on top oxidized red for some reason I don't know why nickel would ever do that never done that before

And I think I polished it off so now you have underneath you just have a dull gray metal

It used to be all red except for just perfectly around all the letter was gray metle when it was struck the lettering float up to die and take off some of the oxidation

Is it anything I think it may be a plant that was exposed to oxygen but not heated too long so the molecules did not migrate
