I noticed the devices are very thick and some doubling or serifs and Notching going on?

Well for sure there is plenty of zinc rot, but there can also be doubling as these would be unrelated. Where are you seeing split serifs? With these overall pics, I'm not seeing what you are with the coin in hand.

With the amount of zinc rot, it wouldn't really matter if had doubling or not
as that coin will eventually turn to dust.
