Found this coin in a dirt mound about 60 years ago.

Due to its condition, should I try cleaning it?

Soak it in acetone (hardware stores have cans of it) overnight...

Just environmental toning, coin scrapes. This coin is now a cull coin. So best to leave it alone. On of the classics that should be preserved, not add anymore altering to the coin.

The beginning of the end for these coins were the rims are not tall enough to prevent the dates from wearing off so quickly on these coins. Same with the Standing Liberty coins.

The classic designs are my favorites.

Acetone might help a little, but I'm guessing this coin is a goner.

Keep it if the finding has meaning for you. Otherwise not much hope. The wrong ground really eats up coins.
