I came across one of these coins and blew it off as human damage. Months later, I came across another 1 and became curious. Does anyone have any insight?

It didn't look like that when the coin was struck so it has to be damage
no matter how it happened.

Welcome to CCF. I think that your first instinct was correct too.

Just face value coins when they are damaged. Just because they are different, doesn't improve the value of them.

Yes, post-strike damage. Consider holding on to them as examples.

Thank you all. I just wanted more opinions. It was just weird finding two from pocket change coin hunting and at different times! I should play the lottery... lol

Who knows? Maybe this damage was done by the same person, either from boredom or someone wishing to create errors artificially. We've seen both here on CCF.
