These have been posted before, but putting up another as a reminder to keep alert when buying expensive stuff. This is a Chinese counterfeit, and a pretty bad one at that. But the key marker for these is a small die/mold gouge on the inside middle of the left wheat. And notably, this isn't the only date they counterfeited using this reverse, so any iffy-looking rare dates should be checked for that marker. Plus the thing only weighs 2.70g. 1909-S VDB Lincoln Wheat cent counterfeit - Chinese fake 2.70g

I appreciate the heads up on this. Who would have thought people would have so little to do with their time that they'd make counterfeit pennies?

Well if real that would be a $1500 coin, so I can see why they do it.

@tropicalbats No I get that part of it, it's just sad that they bothered to fake the coin in the first place. There are a million ways to be valuable that all fall short of counterfeiting currency lol

Thanks for the reminder. Is this a sand cast fake or a sputter die?

I always assumed it was sand cast, but honestly I have no idea for sure with these since the reverse was used with several obverses.
