Maryland State Quarter looks to be struck on a Canadian quarter planchet,or even all silver one maybe since it is non magnetic? Either way, doesn't look right. So I figured I'd get yalls opinions.. I'm still at work where I found it so I dont know the weight currently, just that it sounds, looks and feels off from all the other State Quarters.

Lmk what, if anything is off about this thing please. I'm hoping it's a first of its kind find TBH! LOL

The last pic is a group of State Quarters for reference at how diff the side is... I thought I found a silver quarter when I saw the roll like that.... but when I flipped it and it was a State Quarter... I was confused and baffled lol

Canadian quarters are nickel plated steel so it would be highly magnetic.
What you have is probably a plated State Quarter which would not be unusual.

My initial reaction is aligned with JimmyD's input--a plated US quarter.

Not possible. Two different mints/two different countries.
I agree with the others, you have a plated State Quarter.

HSC plated with States quarter crap. Now that they are not saved anymore, they are just spent. Just a face value coin now.

I agree with all and I want to add:

From very long time US mint do not strike Canadian coins. They work together for some issues of the security and accurate strikes of productions, but not to strike one country for other.

You can see it is a very poor plating job.

Well... if it's platinum plated like that one image you showed, I'll be happy with that, platinum is better than gold lol.

Also just an FYI you guys, I know I'm new to this still... but trust me when I say, alot of you have alot to learn as well lol... and I'm not saying this to be ignorant, just to make you all aware.

There has actually been an instance where there was a silver/Canadian issue. A 1970 (I believe it was, yall can recheck when you look this up afterni post it as I know you most will lol) American S quarter that was struck on a Canadian planchet, it bears the moose in the back imaging and no one can explain how it happened.... it was also certified . Idl if it ever went to auction, but it did happen, so anything is possible, no matter how unlikely or "impossible"

Everybody has to learn something on daylly basis.

You talk about 1970's?, well for you to learn and know: End of the 1981 was the last year US strike for Canada what in that time was not possible to strike in Ottawa due to the requested amount of the coins. In 1982 both countries install the new line which was German fabrication.

In the "Auctions" I see many fake coins which could not be explain, but an 1970 Canadian quarter could be.

Do not be happy if it platinum platted because will cost more to extract the noble metal then his value.

Thanks for your input.

Sorry Mzeek17 but you mistake or confuse many things.

Canadian quarters has a caribou head and not moose. Second the two coins you talk about was strike on planchet from King George V and second King George VI. the both coins do not show the caribou which was introduced design with the reign of Queen Elisabeth, instead show the leafs.

The first coin-error was struck on the planchet from King George V it is a mystery for me (I will contact the mint for know if such coins was struck in San Francisco). Basic Canada use Phil for striking. The second error was an 1941 planchet which I consider was adequate to be strike outside the Canada due to the war period. Canada go to the war far before US and in that period all the industries in Canada was focus in army productions. When I will have the answer from Mint I will come back with their answer.

Good luck.
