Hi CCF! I'm a registered user but have never posted before. I've been collecting for 50+ years and never really had interest in errors & varieties until I started reading this forum. I've come across a 2017-P Washing ATB Quarter. Iowa Efficy Mounds. I'm seeing distinct doubling on the reverse "MOUNDS" and the "Y" in Effigy. There's no other noticable doubling on the coin. Not sure what I'm looking at. Any ideas? Thanks for your comments and suggestions!

These are never DDR's. It is Machine Doubling on the incuse devices on the ATB reverse quarters. All the DDR's are located in the central area for the design. No DDR listing for this design.

Hi my name is Danny. I also have been collecting in one way or another for over 50 years. I also have never posted about it before. I also have never been interested in error coins until recently. One thing I have learned so far is that photographs of coins are incredibly inaccurate. Especially with doubling you cannot trust what you see in a photo or on a phone screen at high magnification. One thing that helps me anyway is to turn the coin to 4 different orientations. Put the date to the north south east and west and take photos with the same lighting and camera settings. I was completely AMAZED at the difference in the pictures using this method. Especially in the letters on the coins. I even turn them to 10 different orientations or more sometimes. Hope this helps because I see a lot of this everywhere. And hello everyone!

Hi Danny! I like when you say

. Me I collect in one way (mine) the "other" I do not know hehehe (joke)

You are perfect right about photos. Personally I trust my photos from my microscope. Is damage I can not post here due to the format and the platform of the OS the microscope has. But if you come here more and with clear analyses of replays and the photos you will see, the you will be able to have a consensus.

So long, see you here later
