Initially looked like possible D/D but upon closer look saw some other things that were odd. Almost appears a tone of silver on obverse and not sure if that's plating worn off or ?Random letters throughout the image or numbers; with some being smaller than normal. One example is on left leg of "M" on reverse. Others are scattered around.
Would appreciate any helpful input on what this is. I'm sure this nothing and worthless beyond a penny, but still thought I'd check. Thanks in advance for your help.

Aside from the strange coloring on the obverse, it looks like a normal coin.
the reverse has a normal copper coloring, but the obverse could be staining from another source or jusr environmental toning to it.

A well-circulated '84 D cent, complete with staining/environmental toning. A sharp close-up of the mint mark will likely show circulation damage, such as a hit. Possible that mint mark split plating may be present--can't tell from posted image. Pareidolia is also in play--explains the random characters. Worth one full cent.

Normal to me.
Could be a small chip between G and hair on obverse.
Maybe?

Often the SE area of the mintmark will show split plating. But sometimes the split happens inside of the mintmark:

When you see gray color, then you know it is an issue with split plating.
Happens a lot on the Memorial reverses:

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Here's a picture of the mintmark area. Almost looks like a 'D' facing SE

Please NO screen shots! They are too pixelated to be of help. Just zoom in with your phone's camera (even older models do this well).
