I recently found this 1996 - P Cent with an odd grouping of lines on the reverse. The lines run parallel to each other, from the approximate 1 o'clock position to the 4 o'clock position. Usually I would chock these up to PMD, but they run under the F in of, A in America, as well as the right corner of the Memorial. It also looks like thy run under the FG.
I also noticed that the roof appears to be floating....

Have any of you seen this before, and could provide what this is?

I hope the pics came out ok. I'm trying a new method of uploading, so there is no shots of the microscope screen. The second to last pic is rotated to try and have the light reflect better off the lines.

Thanks for looking into this.

These are cause by the feeder fingers getting struck altering the normal shape of the fingers. What do they look like?

Note how the strike on the fingers distorts the shape of the fingers. Sometimes they even have fingers that get struck as a coin:

What does the damage to the die look like on the struck coins?

When polished off the dies it alters some areas of the design:

You realize they are all listed on threads. When you see CoopHome, note it turns blue. If you click on that link, then you will have answers to questions you've not even thought of yet. The link is now up to page 11, soon going to 12. But the questions posed have answers with some having hundreds of images. You might want to start your own educational files. Save the information so you don't have to go back and re-find the information. It will keep you off the "kicking machine" for not doing it when you first spotted it:

Yep! Coop nails it again.
Just one more thing though, Zinc coins dated from 1982 to present won't have lamination issues as these coins are plated with a very thin layer of copper.
