Hey all, I am asking this for a friend. They have nice 1975 LMC that has this error/damage on it. I've looked at a lot of different types of errors and damages, including post mint, and none seem to indicate what it is or cause. I thought clipped planchette at first but it's not from overlapping planchette punch holes. Shady, friend sent me the pics so bare with me, if you need better photos I'll do what I can to get them.

Looks like damage on the obverse. Note how it is incuse. Possible wire cutter damage to the coin.

Personally, I can't tell much from the photos posted--seem to be enlargements of low(er) resolution images. Being shot through the mylar of a 2x2 makes it troublesome too. Would be cool to see fresh, softly lit, large and sharp pics. Thanks.
