I see these terms used regularly when looking up the value of coins. What does this mean and what criteria is used to fall into one of these classifications? How does a collector tell if he has a coin that will be in these classifications? I googled and all it said was used for coins made for the first 30 days. How would a grader or anyone know that? Confused.

It means another way to artificially create value to a holder not the coin.

Generally peeking, the first strikes are collected by the mint, capsulated or put in sets and send to graders with signed mentions been first strike.

In general, except the proof strike the others are strike at a speed of 150 per min. the mint operate 24h/24h on production. I doubt that after 30 days could be first strike loll. Then is other thing: the first strike mean also first die which at this speed can not stay 30 days. Previous 2020, the dies was change after 40 to 50K strikes, I discuss about the hammer and not the anvil.

The first strike do not mean more value, this it is determinate by others factors. Speculators use first strike to attract innocents.

Here is a good explination of this and why you should not spend extra for a coin based only on this designation.

I think "First Shipped" or "Early Shipped" could be a better description.
