I picked this up on ebay a while ago for my typeset. some handwritten notes that came with it indicate it is an S187, Style 2 hair. graded vg8 minor roughness, net g5+. Thanks

I would consider the (EAC) grading reasonable for this coin at a net 5. Nice pickup and looks good in an album!
Apart from the "roughness" (porosity) it is quite presentable regardless...

A TPG would probably call this "VG Details-Environmental Damage."

Nice looking coin. I've been poking around on ebay to try and fill in some dates for large cent typeset as well to fill in album. New to all this, so very hesitant to pull the trigger on anything. Not sure what is feal or fake, etc.

i think its short of VG8.

G6 and I think it grades straight

I feel it's a fairly attractive example. I don't find the minor roughness distracting. I'd go with G6.

I really like the eye appeal here. I can see VG-08 here. There's a little bit of verdigris in the "E" of ONE, and it may be worth keeping an eye on that over time. Nice example!
