The rim looks like intentional damage, don't think that it's an error. The colour looks kind of off to me, what's the coins weight?

That edge rim is interesting but I can't think of anything in the minting process that would cause that. I'm no expert. Those with much more knowledge than I will be along shortly.

How could this be done? Image using a file to lay over the rim on the edge of the coin. Then smack it lightly with a hammer. This will leave the lines on the file on that edge of the coin. Repeat this a few times and make it look like it was done at them mint. But is actually now a damaged coin. Have I done this before. No. But seeing the coin gave me the thought on how this could be accomplished. (My brain works like that)

Post-strike damage--very likely intentional. Fun curiosity.
