This 1900 Philadelphia Half Eagle has been in the family a long time. As a kid, I remember seeing it wrapped in my Grandfather's shaving kit. I've tried to get the best photos I could, but they seem to make this smooth and uncirculated coin look pitted. I've done the best I can, and wonder if anyone would take a shot at grading it. All I can say is that it's a terrible shame the double eagle has disappeared over time.

Reverse looks mint state with good luster but obverse fields show friction so AU-55 may be accurate. The hit on the neck isn't very obtrusive. Decent gold type coin overall.

Cool story! There is unc details but I see some obvious disturbance of the original luster. AU-55, but possible whizzed or something alike.
Suffering from bust half fever.

Grandfather probably snatched this out of circulation and kept it fairly nice over the years. AU58. I don think the coin was messed with but the photos have a little too much glare to know for sure

AU58. Might be worth having it graded.
