Could anyone weigh in and help my untrained eye determine if this 1912 is authentic and if so appx. value? NOTE: It weighs 27g on my kitchen scale and has the distinctive "ring" when tapped or dropped. Measurements (using my cheap digital calipers) are 39.65mm x 2.5 mm and is non magnetic - THANKS   Edited by ferdball 01/03/2022 10:33 pm

Should be 39.75mm by 2.5mm and weigh 26.5 grams. My catalog shows a poor grade at $350 to a high grade at $4,000. But lately prices for Chinese coins are seemingly going through the roof. If it were my coin, I'd first identify of good silver or not. In my history of documenting hundreds of Chinese "silver" coins in my shop, I've only come across two that were genuine. Keep in mind the quality of the portrait was not very good. Your coin, based on the photos alone, appears to be better made than most others. But I'd be surprised if it is genuine.

Thanks JBuck and Albert - About the only valuation info I found so far, are a couple of them sold on ebay for around $1,800 & $6,500, and this auction site: https://www.coinarchives.com/w/lotv...d9430fe98719 where it says it sold for $20,000 (seems high) - thanks again!

Wanting to post a follow up on this coin and possibly help another, It DID in fact turn out to be real and sold on ebay for nearly 11k USD. Appreciate this forum for helping a novice get a great price for an old treasure.

I also looked earlier and did not find it. But then I think there are a number of ebay markets in different countries? So I was skeptical about the sale and let it go without posting or looking more, so let's take a look at the link of the sale if supplied.

Yea, it's been over 3 months, so it wont show up on ebay anymore. but I can assure you it sold! I was a little skeptical too, Right off the batt when I started the 7 day auction I had people asking if they could "buy it now" from $2,500 all the way up to $6k. I just kindly let them know that they were welcome to place a bid.... it went to a small town in texas. It was my father in laws coin that his dad brought back from China in the 50's. I doubt his dad ever knew what he had, probably thought it was a souvenir.
