I picked up this nice 1908-O dime for silver melt like 7 or 8 years ago, and has been one of my favorite Barbers... I am just wondering if my current grade estimation of AU-50 is about right?

I think AU-50 is reasonable, but in a details grade. The reverse seems too scratched up and dinged for a straight AU-50. I'll net grade and say XF-45.

AU50 details. looks like an old cleaning. sometimes they get a pass as they retone but the scratches on the reverse are too much.

Nice pick-up. Yes, a details example--but subtle. I'm good with XF45+.

I myself was iffy if it would detail, lean yes one way, but just minor enough to lean not detailed . To me, it is hard to find incredible deals on high grade Barber coinage of all denominations.

AU with an old cleaning. Not sure if that would details it - it's not severe.

Agree, AU Details. Good grief, at $1.60, does it have any friends? Definitely better than the melting pot any day.
Rest in Peace
