Cleaning out the master Bedroom closet, I found a Tin of coins in an old British coin bank filled with coins. I have not seen this since 1985, so it may be fun to see what's in it.

The 10p coins look like the large old type (withdrawn in 1992) but the 1p and 2p coins are still legal tender if you ever come to the UK! Just check to see if you have any 1982, 1983 or 1984 2p coins. These were only issued in sets but a few did escape into circulation, and are worth more than face value. And, if you find a 1983 2p with 'NEW PENCE' rather than 'TWO PENCE' on the reverse, you've hit the jackpot - that's the rare mule coin!

Well my exploration has found 2 more bags of coins that were hidden behind the 'Phone box' coin bank. and it has spread to no less than 20 world countries so far. these include: Canada, Germany, France, Bermuda, Ireland, Vietnam, Malaysia, Jamaica, Jugoslavia (Yugoslavia), Italy, Netherlands, England, Bahrain, Singapore, Mexico, U.A.E., EDIT: add Philippines, Hong Kong, Spain, Japan, and a few I cannot identify yet. I also found in the pile already is a 1962 (my birth date Irish coin!) I did have a nice surprising find already: a clipped (incomplete) planchet from Bermuda - 1970 5 cent piece. Here is my world coin pile so far.

Nice clip, that is a fun find! 20 countries so far, it may be time to start a OFEC collection.

I guess I'm already doing that with my Birth year collection - one coin from every country that existed in 1962. I may also gather a coin from every country as well, (seeing how there are newer countries that came into existence after that date.) Edit to fix spelling error.

Sweet clip, always nice to find an error for nothing! Have fun sorting and looking up all those shiny discs of metal.

I agree, thanks, right now, I'm sorting by country, then when that is done, I'll sort by denomination

Some nice coins you found there. Mind you, in the crazy times we live, the telephone box tin is probably worth more than all the coins.
