@dqu, first welcome to CCF. Second, your pics are quite good, although if you cropped out more of the border, then that would bring out the details in your coin better. With respect to your question about the number 8 in the date, it looks to me like the post on the die that makes the top "hole" was broken when this coin was struck. That allowed metal to mostly fill in the hole. It is a fun find, but probably still worth just face value.

It's known as a Broken Post, common on P & D mint marks.

Thanks. This coin is special to me for one its my birthyear and second it sparked a hobby for me and last, my dad had a small coin collection that my brother asked if he could keep a couple of months ago when my dad past. So I told myself I would make my own collection. Plus I have some Mexican pesos..
