Hello From Ohio- Direction And Suggestions?

Mindbender New Member United States 7 Posts	Posted 01/17/2022 1:42 pm Hello everyone from Ohio. Pretty new to this whole world and have just gotten into filling basic albums for fun (national park quarters, State Quarters and Jefferson nickels 1938-2003). I've been primarily been doing this through coin roll hunting which has been strangely addictive for me. I've searched several boxes each of quarters and nickels and I'm filling some holes at my local coin shop and ebay. My question is this: what is another collection area that could be next for a beginner collector? I'm looking at US classic and colonial coins where the average coin is ~$500 or less. I like reading in detail about whatever I'm considering and I'm purely in the research phase. Thanks for your help. Report this Post to the Staff

Perhaps Lincolns or put together an MS set of Roosevelt dimes . If your coin budget is $1500 or more a month then collect whatever turns you on . Report this Post to the Staff

Most MS-67s could be had for @ 30 bucks, crack them out of their holders and fill the album. If you are looking for a decent challenge, Walking Liberty halves and Lincoln cents can be the way to go. With classics, I vote capped bust halves because they have a decent supply, are fairly cheap, they are silver, and very old. My favorite challenge of an album to fill is the Dansco 7070 Type Set. It give you the opportunity to learn about all of the major types, and you can fill the album any way that you want. BU coins, holed coins, key dates, etc. Suffering from bust half fever. With a budget of $500 or less per coin, both of those are very achievable with the exception of a few coins. As jacrispies mentioned, this will also give you an opportunity to learn a lot about U.S. coinage in general.
