Mint spec was 3.11 g, but including the mint tolerance and the amount of lost metal due to heavy circulation wear, I think that the weight is ok. If it was made from solid gold, it would be much heavier. More likely the odd color is just toning or someone doing some aftermarket plating.

You only have a reading to 1 decimal point so with a + - tolerance of .13 g
and with the wear and corrosion on your coin, your probably not that far off.

looks like old plating that is wearing off, but if it were plated, wouldn't it be heavier? But with older coins, the metal content can make them look brassy or bronze. I think it is a worn polished cent.

Possibly the result of a worn plating (or metallic paint) job--plating or paint being thin to begin with and wearing off. If coins could talk.

I'm thinking it was a buried coin at one time and then harshly cleaned.
Rest in Peace

I wouldn't be surprised to learn this has an older plating wearing off. It's in rough shape for sure. I agree looks harshly cleaned, maybe related to the acid bath it appears to have been soaked in. No premium on this one, sorry.
