I came across this the other day going through coins with my son. I'm still not sure about all the errors and not sure if I'm identifying this right. Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

I do not see an RPM here. Some circulation flattening, maybe PMD and possibly a damaged punch. Nice pic though and

Since the 'S' is an open S I know that it is not a broken post, but I'll go so far to say that I think it is a die chip. filling the gap.

Okay next time I'll definitely post the whole coin. I appreciate all the feedback. My 8 year old son has taken an interest in coins. So I'm trying to sharpen up on information.

It is good to ask questions, especially with a questionable mint mark like you have here.

"since the 'S' is an open S I know that it is not a broken post, but I'll go so far to say that I think it is a die chip. filling the gap." How could it be a die chip if the coin was hand punched ? Would it be the punch was filed to add life ? Or maybe filled
happy hunting
