Thought these were neat.
Two 1972D both with Spikes but different locations. Coin #1 is listed on Cuds #19. Coin #2 is not listed.
On reverse both have a crack above AMERICA in same location but a little different. Crack starts and ends up in same location at rim.
Coin #2 has a crack above U-UNITED and a clash in bay 1.
Just thought it strange the die would crack in same location above AMERICA

Sure anxious to here comments. Thanks. Rob

@rb, it sounds like you are saying that two different obverse dies were used with the same reverse die. Is that right? I think that is pretty common at the mint, but I'm hoping someone smarter than I am can confirm.

What it looks like to me.

On obverse if the Spikes are in different locations. Would that be two different obverse dies?
On reverse the cracks are in the same area but they run differently. Check #1 with black arrows compared to other coin. The crack hits letters in different locations. Would that mean two different dies also?
The RPMs are doubled and sorta look the same?

Yeah two completely different die pairings here. Two obverses, two reverses. Reverse die crack is incredibly similar but does not meet the letters in the same spots.

That's what I was thinking.
Two different dies obverse and reverse.
Cracks are a little different.
But just thought it strange that the dies would crack in the same area with the same really close looking cracks.
