Quote: but I thought coins can only be minted for 1 year with that date! that is correct, you can't mint a coin in 2025 with a 1999 date just because you had orders, thats not how the Mint works, other private owned mints may do that but the US Mint can only mint a coin with a specific date on it if they are still in that year. So they can't mint a 2009 coin in 2010 no matter how many orders they have. If that was the case then every coin that didn't have a specific mintage number would still be minted from the 80's. Thats just not how the US Mint works Quote: if there were excess minted from 2009, sales will continue to go into 2010. that just means if they mint more than they sell up until dec.31 they can still sell then until they are gone but that doesn't mean they can keep minting them after dec.31 2009

Quote: Please tell where that is documented. See the section in bold. US Code Title 31 subtitle IV Chapter 51 Subchapter II Sec 5112 (d) (1) United States coins shall have the inscription "In God We Trust". The obverse side of each coin shall have the inscription "Liberty". The reverse side of each coin shall have the inscriptions "United States of America" and "E Pluribus Unum" and a designation of the value of the coin. The design on the reverse side of the dollar, half dollar, and quarter dollar is an eagle. Subject to other provisions of this subsection, the obverse of any 5-cent coin issued after December 31, 2005, shall bear the likeness of Thomas Jefferson and the reverse of any such 5-cent coin shall bear an image of the home of Thomas Jefferson at Monticello. The Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Congress, shall select appropriate designs for the obverse and reverse sides of the dollar coin. The coins have an inscription of the year of minting or issuance. However, to prevent or alleviate a shortage of a denomination, the Secretary may inscribe coins of the denomination with the year that was last inscribed on coins of the denomination. Now the last sentence COULD give them an out, if the Secretary wants to claim he is tryng to prevent a shortage of double eagles.

The coin, is a digitally reproduced version of Saint-Gaudens' original ultra high relief 1907 Double Eagle gold piece, which was never released into circulation.

But one interesting thing is that I ordered VM firstlady with my UHR. They kept the VM first lady for more than two weeks before finally sent out by itself yesterday. Several days ago, both coins were scheduled to be shipped on Feb 6. So they must feel that they can't wait for the UHR any time soon(?).

Not necessarily, last year when I ordered all the commeratives and both ASE's. One of the ASEs got put on hold, and the rest shipped. I receiver the ASE less then a week after everything else...

So many delays... It looks like the 2009 issue is going to have a very limited mintage :) If only the Canadian dollar wasn't so bad, I'd order one. These coins will have a date imprinted, right?
