Has anyone seen pennies mid 80s and up that are a different color like an orange yellow very shiny ? I've ran into several that appear as though an experimental, or improperly mixed die was used.
I will pull out my collection and find some to post if need be
But if anyone knows off hand what I'm talking about then I won't have to haul my collections
out of my closet...
Thanks
Rest in Peace

Peacenroses are you speaking of something different than the 1982 switch from bronze cents to zinc plated with copper cents?

Eager to see photos. Dies themselves have nothing to do with the color of the coins struck (planchets being struck).

Sorry , I got a few coin rolls and I was going through them after I posted.
I will dig out and post a few pictures of what I'm talking about.
But hey while I was checking out my 2 Pennie rolls I did find a funny one..
It's a 1974 penny with a baseball batter and catcher image stamped above the date...

Copper color variation is a normal mint occurrence. It's more common in the copper plated zinc coins. Over time the electrolysis baths used to make the planchets absorb zinc which changes the copper into an alloy when it plates out. These are not worth any added premium.
