Hello, I've been a member for some time. Most times, by searching here and other places I can find my own answers with a minimum of fuss and if not then it gets tucked away for another time...until now..I came accross a 1962 cent in a bankroll, its very bright which I thought odd but when I looked at the date...it seems as if it's been repunched ....over an upside-down date ( ?)
I tried inverting colors and different angles trying take since of it..might be I'm seeing something not there. I'll try to post pictures but failing that I'll trouble you no more.lol

There's a ghost of ..something between the 1 and 9, hard to see with these pics. Also a tailing of another number that pokes out under the curve of the 6...wasn't sure haw many pictures I could post..actually a little suprised I was able to...

This next image I took blocking overhead light while allowing light from a lamp to the side....I understand one light source is important...but this was so striking. The more I look at this coin the odder it seems, almost as if it was struck on a foreign coin or something...and now I sound nutty

Good to have a certain level of self-awareness.

Seriously though, I think you just have some damage on the date plus a little Pareidolia. If you weigh this coin and it is within mint specs, then you'll have your answer as to whether it was over struck on some other country's coin.

Firstblete apologize for taking so long to reply hectic day..that aside I'd like to thank you gentlemen for taking the time to reply to this. That bit of copper was becoming an irritation...just couldn't find anything that seemed to fit what I thought I was seeing( I admit Pareidolia may have had a part to play)Which is what finally drove me to come begging answers..as far as I'm concerned it's a date with a Cud that met the wrong Gumball Machine lol.G'nite all, with regard, B.
