No illusions about a details on grade but does anyone see G-6?
Been mulling the retail market for attractive low grade 1892 S in an NGC or PCGS slab with rims, it appears imo this date gets some sort of special pass? is this date the key and why the $300+ for only half decent examples? Coinfrog let me have cold hard truth! Thanks...price $140.00 cash pics taken windowlight no editing.

Tough call, but as a purist, I'd have to say G-04 details (obverse cut).

G4 to G6

BUT —-

The diagonal scratch running thru the ear might detail it at the major grading services.

I'm also at G Details. IMHO the technical underlying grade is G-04. The scratch should detail it, but it has pretty decent eye appeal for the grade.

Not all details coins are the same. I would think it would price a bit above the rule-of-thumb half list value for the details grade. It certainly would price well above, say, a holed coin or harshly cleaned coin. A straight G-04 lists just north of $300, so a value in the $175-$185 range would be somewhere in the ballpark. At $140, definitely a fair price for a decent example. That's for sure one of the tough depression-era coins. (The 1892-O half is another.)

Congrats! I would certainly leave it in that slab considering it scored a straight grade. Might not get that same result second time around with that scratch. Nice coin!

You did well!

Coin is now permanently entombed in its ANACS coffin until it belongs to someone else who will eventually try to play the crossover game!
