Those are some expensive PCGS slabs you are buying but apparently everyone judges a coin by its slab these days.

Got my PCGS graded 'Alien' error coins back and the gradings were better than I expected. Not so good on the Crowns I sent, but that may be another thread. Can't find an Aussie error population report on PCGS , only USA?

Did they say they would label them as Alien? Or do the slabs just say Die Clash? What grades did you achieve? And yes it is annoying that error coins are not in the population report. Hate it that I can't see how my errors compare to others and I have no way of knowing if my errors are a common type, a rare type, rare for a particular year or of either a very high grade or of a spectacular level for say the amount of clip or offset. and please post your results for the crown and why you think the result was not so good

Quote: Did they say they would label them as Alien? Or do the slabs just say Die Clash? I was hoping that they would be labelled as 'Alien' Die Clash. Quote: Thanks all for the info, I have just sent my 2 very precious 'ALIEN' 5 cent changeover coins to Imperial Coins for PCGS grading. They told me that PCGS does not grade them as error coins and to put them as 'Regular' with the 'Variety' box ticked as well. I really just want them housed in the slabs for better protection , and visual appeal. Do not care if they turn out to be ungradable ( they are circulated) Quote: BUT - it's very definitely pay-to-play - if you don't pay the extra fee it will almost always be hollered w/o the error notation. Maybe should have sent them to PCGS as an error coin for the 'Alien' title to be recognised? Imperial Coins were definitely wrong to state that PCGS do not grade them as error coins. Had to buy new 5G phone as no more 3G and frustrated at trying to connect to my PC. Old phone photos... Was never going to achieve top grades but still stoked with what they are. Yep, so true, how many other 'Alien' coins have been slabbed? Can't find out. These coins have 'Trueview' too. Look horrible.

Very nice crab eater Quote: Got my PCGS graded 'Alien' error coins back and the gradings were better than I expected MS for a coin you noodled in circulation. Remember, they grade softer in the USA than over here.

As the famous David Lisot question goes ... what kind of value?

You can also send coins to PCGS Hong Kong. I use Harry at Anna Numismatics here in Sydney as each June he offers a special that works out a few dollars cheaper per coin than other PCGS authorised dealers. Handy when sending larger order like I do and I think it is even handier for sending just a few coins as his bulk submission for himself and multiple collectors gets a cheaper postage cost compared to each person paying return postage.
