I am looking at this thing...

It seems like a proof?

Is it?
Help a brotha out, as the auction ends fairly soon.

I fully understand it is cleaned. But I need to know if it is a proof as I suspect?

The rims and denticles don't look proof. I think it's the heavy polishing that gives the surfaces a reflective look.

That is a horribly abused and polished business strike coin - stay away.

@windweaver77: Ignoring the harsh mechanical polishing and cleaning the coin was subjected to, one quick way of telling if the coin is potentially a proof coin is the quality of its strike and the level of detail seen on the coin. The ship's sails on the reverse are one place to look. On genuine proof coins, there is much more detail seen on the sails vs. the coin shown.
