Yes indeed it is worth something to certain of us collectors ... (Jbuck ) For starters, you have several proofs, some clad, some silver, both are worth a bit over face value, especially the silver ones. Also check the 1972-P (with no mintmark) to see which of the 3 possible reverses it is; a couple of them are a bit more valuable. And lastly, check for gem uncirculated ones (MS-65 and up...), those tend to be significantly valuable... Looks like a great set you have there!

A nice assembly indeed. The album in question, produced by Harco, was notorious for damaging coins with their pvc inserts. Your's however appear fine for the moment.

Nice collection of Ike's. Seems to me that the album cover was produced before the Ike series was no longer in production.

As stated, you need to check the ones you have there for varieties. It is almost a complete set. You are missing the 1977 and 1978 coins. A complete set is probably in the neighborhood of $200 or a little more if you include the 1972P type 2.

A very nice collection! Quote: The album in question, produced by Harco, was notorious for damaging coins with their pvc inserts. It has and open ended date (1971-), so I have to assume it is the older type made with plasticized PVC. I am very sentimental about keeping intact those things handed down, but the coins are the most important thing and should probably be transferred into a modern album. Quote: Your's however appear fine for the moment. They do look surprisingly well. PVC damage is dependent on environment, with hot and wet being the worst. Your dad must have kept his coins in a very stable cool and dry place away from sunlight.

Looks like a type-3 reverse, the second best one, retail starts about 5 dollars on up .

Very nice collection. I really like that key. Wonder if it opens a lock box full of silver coinage...

How do I know if a coin is uncirculated and MS-65 and up?

In a nutshell, an uncirculated would have no wear, and on the Sheldon grading scale is from Mint-State-60 to MS-70 at the highest. A 60 is uncirculated but with many bagmarks, stains, environmental issues, etc., and a 70 is termed perfect uncirculated, or flawless. Of course, a 65 is kinda in the middle and termed gem uncirculated.

Great looking collecting! I suggest buying a Dansco Ike album and transferring the coins to that album sooner rather than later. The PVC of the current album, as mentioned before, is bad.
