Hello all,

you can see on this one-cent coin that the word America is different and seems to be some kind of error. If this is an error maybe someone knows what error could it be? will be glad to hear your opinions, thank you

"States OF" looks like a Struck Through Grease issue on these devices.

The word "AMERICA" is Die Deterioration, not an error.

See if this helps, https://www.traildies.com/master-dies-with-trails/ .

What you are seeing on "AMERICA" Is a master trail die.

as regards to 'states of' they look flattened to me America is 'smeared' towards the rim indicating a deteriorating die

Guys, I have shown this on a few different threads and seem to get the same response. If the link does not help, maybe the pic with both will. There is a lot going on with this coin, of which everybody is correct but I think the OP is referring to the obvious master trail die.

I did not put pointers on the OP's pic, did not think it necessary.

@Makecents, I think you discuss about two complete different coins. The OP coin is from complete different die. And anyways the traildies are not errors.

silviosi, please read, this trail is from a MASTER DIE. And who said error, besides you and the OP.

Make I say the trails are not considered errors to the OP to know. For the master die I do not say nothing because I just spend the time for nothing. the name is done do not matter.

The raised area on your reverse is part of Ridge Ring. Often seen on obverse of cents from that same era. Tails distort from corners of the die in a straight line:
