travelcoin Pillar of the Community United States 1120 Posts	Posted 02/15/2022 6:15 pm Hello everyone, I've been wanting to get an ancient coin for my nephew with a wrestling theme. However, I'm not a collector of Greek coinage so I'm still unsure of what to look for. I looked through fake coin reports, but didn't find a match. Of course, I can get a certified coin, but they are out of my budget. This one came up, but not sure of it's authenticity or even if the style is correct. What's strangling -vs- wrestling? First glance the fabric looks good, but what are the holes on the front and back? Is it part of the design or was it holed at one time and then filled? Or maybe it's a cast of a coin that was holed. Sorry I don't have any dimensions or weight at this point. Thanks Report this Post to the Staff

Spence Moderator United States 34397 Posts	Posted 02/15/2022 8:45 pm I'm not sure exactly. It could be where someone purposefully tried to obscure the word "COPY" or any of a thousand other things. It is this region that has me the most convinced that it is cast as this looks a lot like a parting line along the edge: I would just avoid this one and look what else is available.
