Hello everyone, I'm a bit new to this. I understand the terminology and what to look for. However, I do not know if I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing. Be patient, thanks for any input.

Here's the doubling I see on this 1977 D Penny.
SW of MM
E of 9 & NE of last 7 in Date
E of "LIB"
NE of "Y"
S of "n" possibly "in"
NE of "GOD"
N of "W" NE of "E"
Unclear on "Trust"

Thanks for you time.

After reading a few other posts, I guess I need to be asking how to take the best pictures. I'm confident there's doubling but it simply looks like glares in the photos. Any advice on good pics would be useful. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum.

First, let me commend you on your detailed comments on where you had questions on the coin. That is fantastic. More newer collectors could learn from your insight. I, for one, look forward to your contributions in the future.

Second, thank you for looking at your images after posting to see what other people will see when looking at this thread. You did a great job because your comments are exactly what others would have replied. I look forward to your newer images once you get the glare and focus figured out.

and
What is your photo taking set up? Camera and light source? Your pics are all out of focus and too much glare.

Thank you for the constructive feedback. I've simply been using my cell phone for photos with a desk lamp nearby. I've been trying different things and very little light seems to get a visible photo. I plan on buying a scope of some sort. The reason I believe I found a different variety was after consulting variety vista and comparing my coin to the diagnostic's Doubling on the "Y". I never would have looked deeper but my coin had doubling on a different part of the "Y". I will get better photos up shortly. Thank you for your help and humoring me.

Thanks for the photo advice. I ended up using a much more complicated version of that very simple setup you advised. I hesitate to mention this but after taking new pictures I realized there's a lot more going on with this coin than I originally noticed. I will add 2 photos beyond the close ups so I can illustrate some of the different aspects of the strike thru I see. I no longer believe this coin to be a new DDO but something very unusual. It seems to have been struck with a Kennedy half dollar Reverse. I understand this is unusual but it's definitely there and I'm sure someone with a broader knowledge will be able to figure out exactly what it is. I basically see a portion of the reverse of a 50¢, characters, "FG", and words. I've tried to highlight some of the features although I think it has been struck multiple times with a 50¢. I don't wish to waste anyone's time. I wasn't looking for this, I just saw it when retaking pics. Any info helps. Thank you for your time.

The light source is spot lighting what you are wanting to show us. Probably Machine Doubling on those area and the glare is hiding that you see, that we can't see. All the affected areas are in a direction, so it is probably Machine Doubling you are seeing. A single light source is better for micro images. It allows the light to fall over the coin. This allows light and shows to happen. Two lights eliminate this. Best to let the light flow over the area and let the shadow show the affected areas:

If there is Machine Doubling, then that reflects glare back to the camera. Light on the opposite side of what you want to show, and allow the shadows to paint the picture.
